01 June 2010
A new model of the class «Gran Turismo» 599 GTO (Gran Turismo Omologata) is the fastest road car in the history of Ferrari. The official premiere of the model took place at the auto show, which was held in Beijing at the end of April.
The number of the cars is limited - only 599 pieces. 599 GTO borrowed a lot of parts and technologies from the track «Ferrari» 599XX and per se is its road version. The supercar weighs 1495 kg. The power of the six-litre engine V12 is 670 hp at 8,250 RPM. and 620 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. Thus the ratio of weight to the power is 2,23 kg / hp. From 0 to 100 km / h 599 GTO model speeds up within 3,35 s., developing the maximum speed of over 335 km / h. GTO generates downforce of 144 kg at 200 km / h, that enable to provide the dirigibility and firmness at the high speeds.
In the history of «Ferrari» two models had the prefix GTO. They are 250 GTO of 1962, produced only in 36 pieces, as well as the 288 GTO of 1984, which created the appearance of the modern supercar. Both models are real godsends for the collectors.
